EXPERIENCES FOR A LIFETIME

Sometimes you feel for places you have never visited, but most definitely want to visit some time in your life. You feel through the numerous pictures you see, through the various pieces you read, through the movies you see and the music you hear. New York has always been one such place for me. I’m sure the city comes in everybody’s ‘must see before I die list’, Because trust me , if you’ve skipped it you’ve made a big mistake…… waste no more time and add it.(:P).

Me, and my friend Sadhvi recently had the opportunity and good luck to attend the UNA USA Model UN Conference at New York. The conference gave us a chance to experience New York as a true New Yorker (you know running around in crisp clothes with packed food in one hand and coffee in the other {to get over last nights laughing sessions}). I’m sure we wouldn’t have felt the same for the city if we had gone with our parents on a holiday. We wouldn’t have starved ourselves to save money for shopping, we wouldn’t have spent money like rotten rich bitches, we wouldn’t have had dinner ( consisting of fried chicken for me and something like grass for Sadhvi) with Puneeta and Arjun at 1 am in the morning ( OMG OMG OMG OMG ) at Times Square which was at its liveliest at that moment.

You know , I don’t completely agree with Sadhvi when she says that we wasted our parents money (No , Oh no), because some experiences are for a lifetime and I learnt a lot from this one.

Lesson Number 1 - Living life like a blur is mostly fun:

SO New York is fast, and I mean fucking fast and I’ve spent my last year really slow…… you know when you stop to think too much, and laze around a lot, and do no work. Of the life I remember I don’t ever want to waste time like I wasted last year….. and if there is one thing I want to add to my life here in India is speed. An urgency to get things done is needed, probably a dash of enthusiasm will do the trick ?

Lesson Number 2 – Stay well dressed at ALL TIMES

Its nice to look around and see only good looking people, but do stop to think that its probably not the people, its just the AMAMZING sense of dressing. Look I understand that most Indians would rather spend their time attempting to solve the gigantic problems of the country, but how about doing this dressed nicely. I love Indians, but enough with the ‘I’m to cool/lazy/smart to care about what I’m wearing’ shit, cuz I’m not taking it anymore. OH NO no no. I hereby take an oath that I will never leave my house in those cursed Adidas shorts (present in my closet for mere 7 years now) again. PROMISE. PINKY SWEAR. CROSS MY FINGERS AND HOPE TO DIE. And neither will you.

Lesson Number 3- Never Eat Pretzels

Who came up with that shit ??????

Lesson Number 4- Appreciate the space you have….

………because Manhattan has none. You don’t have space to walk! let alone live, and if you are Puneeta (read you abhor cigarettes) you cannot breathe, because everyone in smoking. Lord, Today I thank Thee for our big house, with a big garden, and a big (and beautiful) roof.

Lesson number 5- Use Public Transportation or walk

I’ve completely learnt this lesson, the other day me, Vam, Charita, Chip, DJ & Kshitij took the same auto to sector 18 after we walked to one. It dint even take any acrobatics or anything…… piece o cake.

Lesson Number 6- Don’t waste time sleeping!!!!!

WHO AM I KIDDING????????????? But it is still a lesson learnt from the city that never sleeps.

Lesson Number 7-

If you ever chair an MUN (HAHA) don’t act as bored as Jarrod Klawinsky and most definitely DO NOT give commendation to someone who asks you whether you wear boxers or briefs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or is playing DOTS !!!!!! ( DOTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) through the WHOLE conference.

Lesson Number 8 – Get rich

Inspirational city I tell You.

Lesson Number 9- Only settle for True and pure Freedom and Individualism

This is hard in India and so is a constant challenge. Get Over the People, the customs, the boundaries and live life first and foremost for yourself and then for anyone else. This is just a value, which was rubbed in more in the big city.

Lesson Number 10- But Obviously Visit Again

Sighhhhh, New York.

Love,

MEE

City no 1 - Mumbai

If some of you recall I promised you that I would write something about our country on the 26thof January. Ignoring that I said next post :) I finally found something I want to write about …….I know I’ve delayed it but I wanted to make sure that I gave my best. I asked for your writings on anything and everything that makes the country wonderful for you.

I also said that I would end up embarrassed……

So I bring to you my trail of 3 completely different cities of India- Mumbai, Calcutta and Delhi .I will cover each city one after the other so you might have to wait a bit for the others.. Im going to start without wasting much time …….but before that I would like to request my readers with all my heart to write something about their feelings for the country ….. good or bad, I don’t care. Yes, I’m still waiting and I’ll be very glad to post your writings.

MUMBAI

Aka Bombay

I recently visited Mumbai and decided i had to write something about the city.We had been invited by family friends.

To most Non Indians, Mumbai is India and India is Mumbai. A non-proportional mix of , crisp Indian intellect, spicy food, street violence, dirt and garbage, slums and slum dogs, Audi’s and Auto’s, Five stars and Dhobi Ghats, Mumbai truly captures that spirit of the Indian city where extreme poverty and extreme richness come together to play audience to growth at mind-boggling speed for which all of them have worked in some way or the other.

Most of my Delhiite friends would hate to agree that Mumbai is THE city of India………frankly Delhi is a much better city to live in. As my dear friends keep reminding me of the fact that I am not a Delhiite (because I live in a suburban town a WHOLE Km away), you can depend on my view being unbiased.

May God forbid that you land on the Mumbai airport during low tide, what will hit you (after a view of slums and high rises) will be solid, humid air with the stench of rotten fish, and if you had the pleasure to stand there and observe the faces of fellow travelers (who were mostly delhiite’s) you’d collapse laughing, they look like they’ve been dropped at a garbage dump and this is not where they intended to be. By the time you reach the car you will not know what to ignore – the dirt, the smell or the layer of humidity settling on your body and leaving you wet (or if you are me, the sound coming from your hair because its frizzing). Thank god for the Sea and the sea breeze! Because if Mumbai was missing the coast it would be missing a lot. I'm sure its the view of the sea that makes them ignore the other parts.

What first impression will a city leave on you when it chooses to stink the day you land, has roads as broad as your average driveway, and is full of these tiny little apartments where you wouldn’t even dream to live (and then you get to know there prices and are unable to close your mouth which has dropped open because of shock)? Not a good one.

Mumbai at first sight is a disappointment, not only because it has poor infrastructure, but also because as a tourist you expect A LOT (For eg – A fucking reason why all rock stars end up here ???).You expect sleek roads, sleek cars, sleek people, and paparazzi? All these things are present in Mumbai (yes heart broken person they are there !!!) but only in a few areas. If you have the eye for pretty and cool things you will not miss the Portuguese style streets and homes with old cafes and black and yellow auto rickshaws. However you cannot stay indifferent to the slums which fill up spaces in the city, the massive number of people and cars on the road and the poorly maintained buildings, which eat up whatever beauty the city has to offer.

Marine Drive is a must visit, in contrast to the other parts of the city the modern, sharp buildings and view at this point in the city will most definitely make you fall in love with it (ignoring the fact that it will be the first area to drown in case of ocean levels rising due to global warming).

If you are wondering why i couldn't greet you with a better picture, its because all I was carrying was a smuggled iPhone :P

However, all the bad points put apart, there is this energy which flows in the air of the city (and its not the stench). Its unexplainable but its contagious. It fills the spirit with positivity. The people are amazing, almost like the best crowds of all the places coming together. They are chilled, creative and dedicated. The individuality of the people and freshness of new company is completely unlike the expected crowd of Delhi and the conversations are much less random and more intellectual and deeper than that of Delhi. Some places have a ‘rock and roll’ feel to them, others have the sleek feel of modern and multicultural cities (you know the feel of the Burberry trench with Starbucks). Some places have the Bollywood glamour and others the old school feeling. As you may have heard the city never sleeps.

People say that once you settle in Mumbai, its hard to settle for another place (probably why people are willing to pay such high property prices). Seems like we will have to find out for ourselves. You can hate it. you can love it, but you cannot ignore Mumbai, The city brimming with creativity and talent will reach heights never seen before.

Extra-Listen to Bambai Nagariya from the movie Taxi no 9211.I heard it after ages and couldn't stop dancing.I LOVE IT !!

I was staying at the Novotel on Juhu. It turned out that the Miss India contestants were also staying there. Sorry i dint ask for pictures.

Why cant Delhi Maps be this cool ?????

We had lunch one day at the Sahara Star. It had a very Avatar feel to it, no it was not completely jungle, but strange mix of smooth architecture, a lot of greenery, a marine aquarium and the restaurants were decorated in the typical cultural way of the country ( as per the cuisine)

Terrible picture I know!! but i had to give you a glance of the private dining room surrounded by the marine aquarium where on special request they also call 'mermaids'............french and german apparently.

If you strain your eyes you'll see the skyline and the standard colors of the mumbai taxi.

The new Sea Link.

Thanks for reading.

HELL I DID IT !!!!!!!

SO here it is.

Wait for it.

Here it comes.

I GOT A BOY CUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! WWWOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Man! I feel good.( GREAT )

The thing is .......I've always wanted one. LIKE ALWAYS ( Since the first time i saw Winona Ryder and then Aggyness Deyn, Audrey Tautou , more recently Rihanna and Lily Allen ).
Just that..................
well.........................
I've never had the courage.

Yeah ....... im a disgrace to my caste of brave people.

But recently ive been asking myself .... what is it that has been stoping me from chopping my hair off ???
I mean it looks punk/cool, and if it does not look so good on me its bound to grow again right??
Is it the fear of a haircut turning into the biggest disaster ever?
The never ending voices asking me 'Why?' ( i don't owe anyone an explanation for things i want to do with all my heart)
Being teased about being a boy???
Not satisfying the qualifications for the so called 'hot girls' group ( i've very recently learned that only girls with long hair are hot )
Bhatia and her agonizing screams whenever i even come remotely close to suggesting a haircut let alone a boy cut.

But then at the bottom of my heart don't really care about any reasons.........BECAUSE WHEN I WANT SOMETHING, I WANT IT.

So today i was happy, and basically in a hair cut mood.
!Bam! I go ... get an appointment ...... tell my mom to accompany me for moral support( i know, shitty )

And then i start feeling like its the wrongest decision i could have possibly made........ill end up ugly ( im no super model) ..... but i keep myself occupied with unimportant things.

Im FREAKING OUT in the car. WHAT AM I DOING????? MY BEAUTIFUL HAIR !!!!!! STOP THE CAR ! STOP THE CAR !
but i tell myself to count the number of females with long hair outside the window............and successfully count a staggering 107 from Sector 50 red light to Sector 18.
No. of boy cuts on girls-0.
Suddenly excited again i go to that parlor and tell him to do give me a messy boy cut.

He looks at me like i'm mad.
So i explain to him in minute detail..... that i wont be happy with anything but a boy cut....so he makes a lot of faces ..... tells my mom a lot of hair crap.......and cuts my hair with a grumpy face.

DUDE !!! you're not helping !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But when it ends ( its not exactly messy )..... i feel........ FREE!!! and light( god i feel weightless) and strong!! and cute :? and rock .....hahahaha

So with Iggy Pop playing in the background I'd like to say that this is a slap for any stupid stereotypical feelings left in my body......... to the whole medieval crowd who feel that long is best on girls and to everything and everyone ( no offense to the close people ) that/who was pulling me back.

A FRESH START WITH A FRESH HAIRCUT.

PS - for those who dint believe me ........ :D

LOADS OF LOVE ( AND ROCK AND ROLL )

PS- My dad is going bonkus !!!!! rebel time !!

Last First Day

I am confused as to what am i supposed to feel today ??
It was my Last First Day of a new class in Amity International School.
And it was overwhelming ....
It started with a 1 - 1.5 km morning walk to Ananda Apartments ( it seemed endless ) to car pool... Ambika's turn today....and guess who i bumped into on the way of my beautiful morning walk(ignoring the fact that Vijay bhaiya was following me) ????

Geeta Maam!!!........ Of course i should have been expecting her waiting for the bus at her stop .... but AH!..... stupid me
" Good Morning Maam " I said with an ear to ear smile.
"Good Morning Meenakshi , you look taller !!! "
What was i supposed to say ? I just smiled more. Then i quickly made some conversation got over the whole thing and walked away really fast.

More endless road...i finally saw the gate ...then i saw Chari ( Thank God i made it!!! {with Vijay bhaiya that is } )
" Morning :) do I look taller to you ?? ( i'm dying to know wether i am any close to Gisele Bundchen )
" Yeah ... you know you sort of do ...... how much do you eat in Patna anyways ??
(HAHA Funny )
Then we call Ambika and Vaishnavi...... reach Amity and get going our ways.......I get through the whole shuffling Drama......( I've had some really bad sections in my life so i don't really care anymore )

and Then i decided to remember 1 quote from each class to share over here....

1. Sunanda ma'am - "SRCC" ( SRCC was mentioned 8 times and so thats all i remember ... shockingly it was mentioned more than Boards) oh and weird hand movements

2.Sneha ma'am - She quoted someone and said - "Results are awarded, Efforts are not."

3.Mridula ma'am- "English this year has no grammar." ( WHAT ??? )

4.Gyaani Sir - "The Bee seems to be interested in Maths." ( when 3 bees were dancing on his head )

5. Shelly...........................
This can't be expressed in a single line.
She asks the whole class wether they want a world tour or they want a luxury car.. and how many want both .......
While majority hands went up ...( well as far as i could see )..i did not raise my hands.
Shelly-"What do you want ??"
Mee - "World Tour"
Shelly-" Why not both ?"
Mee- "I'd rather have a vintage scooter or cycle ." ( Because its fuel efficient and much more of a statement....but like a fool i dint say this )
Shelly-" You are a Kid , you should aim for higher things ....chota socho ge to kaise chale ga ??"
Mee- (in my head) But i don't want a god damn car.
Later when i was talking to Chip she hit me with a chalk.
( LAST FIRST DAY AND I GET ABUSED !!!)
JEEZ
Why were the butterflies missing ??
Was it because its still not confirmed that i have passed maths ??
Why did the teachers try their best to make us fear the coming days??
AND I ALREADY MISS ARCHANA MAAM !!!!!
So there will be many more first days ... but this was our last in school....
and sadly it dint hold much for any of us....
Not for those who were torn apart from their friends.
Not for those who were torn apart from their girlfriends.
Not for those who do not have a single cool soul in their class.
AND CERTAINLY NOT FOR THOSE WHO WERE HIT BY A CHALK.

If im alive in this madness..
Ill be back with some more
Mee

I WISH I WAS A RICH GIRL

Hello everyone :D :D

I don’t feel as happy as I might seem after those two smilies.
I have to write on this laptop which I don’t like .
OH Did I tell you about my Mac PC ( I’m sure you don’t wanna know but I’m going to tell you any way)
You see.…. the PC is fine ….its just the key board.

My servant ( VJ bhaiya ) cleaned it.

With Colin.

That’s right my servant cleaned the keyboard of my Mac PC with Colin.
Now its cleaned of existence.

I know, Shit happens.

So here I am staring at my not so beautiful Windows screen and wondering how come I never noticed how ugly the standard font was.

Oh and then the completely irrelevant fact that I had Maths exam today……whatever I get has to be better than last time ……so why worry ?????

OF COURSE THERE IS REASON TO WORRY !!!!! WHO AM I KIDDIN ????? IF I DON’T GET AN 85 ABOVE ( not possible ) IM SUPPOSED TO GIVE A RETEST !!!!!!

And for icing im getting lectured by my dad because I told him that my Tution maam’s
son got into Stanford. ( BIG FAT MOUTH OF MINE )

Anyways I’ll get to the point.

I WANT INHERITANCE.
Today me and Mansi were reading the paper ( sometimes GT has more to it than it seems ) and we read how Sharukh’s children go around in an Audi 6.
This struck the same familiar Gossip Girl chord……..
Why wasn’t I born with a golden spoon in my mouth ??? (if not golden then silver would have done the job.)

Why wasn’t I born in a family which switched houses in Upper East Side Manhattan,
London , Paris and New Delhi????
A family which gave me a credit card and full freedom to shop at Harrods ???
( OMG Closet full of designer and non designer things { SHOES !!!!!!}…….More over a closet which would be the size of my present room{ which is not asking for too much because trust me , Mariah Carey's wadrobe was as big as my whole house})

Then i could have stared in episodes of The Crib or My super Sweet Sixteen........and behaved bitchy and slutty and got away with it.

Everynight would be party night !!!!!!!!!

I could bribe The Sartorialist with millions of dollars to put me in that list of well dressed females.

Be friends with Aggy D and Christopher Kane.

I'd have perfect hair, bob one day .... rocker long the other.
So that I wouldn’t have to worry about stupid math’s because my admission in an Ivy League ( or New York institute of Fashion ) would be guaranteed because of legacy or references from Madonna and Donatella Versace.

So that i wouldn't have to care about stupid keyboards which could be replaced with brand new Mac’s everyday.
Moreover how is it fair that some people who are just born into such lives don’t even value it and turn into dumb Paris Hiltons.
BIG SIIIGH

Yeah I know all of us want such glittery richness ( Sparkle and shine )………..

but we just have to live the middle class life….with middle class cars….and middle class houses and middle class things……….

But always stay happy about the fact that you were not born in huts besides the roads….pray for the food you get, the education you get and the job that you will get ( and ill pray for my Mac )
Tomorrow is better for everyone.

And if its not all of us die and party in hell :D :D

Who Cares ?

Its Exam Time ....... moreover , its Accountancy next.
( I wrote the whole thing A-C-C-O-U-N-T-A-N-C-Y.....i've been practicing so that samson sir does'nt cut a mark...)
And despite the fact that my performance in this subject has been less than brilliant ( ugghh less than average i think ) I still can't get myself to care ( read- give a fuck ) .
Infact i have'nt had ANY care for quite some time now ( since i gave the MCQ of Board ).
So why is it ???? WHY IS IT THAT I HAVE WASTED A WHOLE YEAR DOING NOTHING ????????
Because my beloved reader the boards come back again next year , and so i thought - why the hell waste time doing something you anyways will have to do for in the last year of the school.
By far this has been the worst academic year .....and because of the academic part of it, it has been quite a bad year too......my parens are unhappy, teachers are unhappy and somewhere its been getting me down.
This doesnt translate to the fact that i am unhappy......i have had a GREAT time
I found new company in Ambi , Chari, DJ and Chip and they have been with me through the best part of the year.
Bhatia found arm candy ( :P )
I discovered the best of facebook....thanks to Mathur. Divij and Parth ( specifically )
I have had the most disgustingly perverted conversations with V,A and M.
Ive given quite a performance to remember in my last Maths paper and there seems to be no improvement in my behaviour towards making any change in the situation.
SO I THOUGHT ILL GIVE ALL OF YOU THE ADVICE ( though its a bit late now )
Have you been showing a constantly barf worthy performance academically this last year ?
Have you been constantly worried about your minimum marks yet facebooking all of the time?
Have you recieved the most disgusting look from your parents because you don't care about your 'future' ?
Then remember that these are the last few days of fun with no responsibility ( next year will be fun with responsibilty { how can anything in which i am involved be not fun :P ?})
DONT LET THEM GO AND MAKE THE MOST OF THEM . The next time you get such freedom you will be official adults.
So don't care....just make it through.( i wanna see you all with me next year{ my chances are just as bad as yours} )
DON'T CARE PEOPLE !!!!!DON'T CARE !!!!
Because i love all of you :D

POSITIVITY MAKES THIS WORLD A MUCH COOLER PLACE TO LiVE .... DUHhh :-)

I’d say Personalised living is the way to go !!
from dressing – out in the sun with slippers and a pair of shorts ?
from eating - peanut butter with oreos? Dosas with chicken nuggets?
from dancing - Beyonce style or your own moves which might have faint resemblance with that of a 70's star :p
etc , etc
To relationships included – life is what you make it .
Each and everyone of us is convinced that whatever we do , whichever way we do it and why we do it , is right ! and why shouldn’t we be ? as long as we live and let live.
Isn’t that even what blogging is about ? ‘Expression’ and NOT ‘ Suggestion’.
After reading our Valentine updates …

I’ve had some things on my mind as well , not judgements :-) only thoughts :-)
· Valentine’s day is lame . I’m convinced.
· Being single shows greater degree of individuality and freedom than being in a relationship … ? hmm…not necessarily.
Lets get back to the “Everything being personalised” and being “ apni marzi ka malik” which each one of us boast about .
( IN EXCEPTION TO HIGHLY OBSESSIVE DRAMATIC EXAMPLES OF coochie –cooing WE SIGHT)

· People have THE FREEDOM TO GET INTO A RELATIONSHIP AT THEIR OWN WILL” don’t they?
Its entirely a matter of one’s own choice.
Freedom loving people would not get along with anyone who’s not freedom loving and freedom giving ENOUGH.
??????? and why have a compulsion of diary entering into one’s partner, isn’t it about being able to share things if wanting to and opening up Instead of HAVING to tell everthing?
Yes there’s a right time for everything , but the right time may not be the same for everyone
· When it comes to committment (between two people),why is it such a big deal ( for others) ? aren’t we all in some way or the other committed to our parents , to our studies ,to watching the latest Harry potter /Bond flick , to OUR FRIENDS , its just that we don’t notice it and the word is equated with SACRIFICE in terms with your boyfriends/girlfriends. this however is neither fair nor right.
Its just makes it OVERRATED even though its not .
Why would any highly individualistic person , fall for an obsessive , not equally competent one?
Individualists appreciate individuality in the other person, not give up theirs to be with them.Arent they supposed to be cooler than that?

Why are some relationships graded against the others. Why are couples entertainment material for people ? isn’t there much more to life ? better things to do .
Being in a relationship that doesn’t take away your perks of being single. Isn’t that what everyone wants. Its not unacheiveble ,really .
pl. dont get the impression that i'm favouring relationships , i'm just neutral towards them just like every 2nd other thing around me .

I’m single , I’m happy .
Tagged as “captain of cool’ – what more could I want ? ;-)

(CURRENTLY , this is what I think )

I think its all about being satisfied at whichever state you are at PRESENT ! and loving it! Only a pleasant present will lead to a fantastic future !
So here’s Vam’s tip of the day: Its best to keep your ideas flexible ;-) cause change is inevitable !
Adios.
-Vam

Monday, February 15, 2010

Hm…. So Mee finally got me writing:

First off Hi ! I’m not Vam I’m “Am” , her sister ! My actual name however is Amiya! So Mee says Valentine’s Day = Lame day because relationships are lame … I both agree and disagree with her ! Valentine’s day = Lame day , OH YES ! Truer than words can explain ! however , relationships are lame : not so much !

I think that being single , I can’t really say much about relationships as such however I do agree that those who are in the absolutely obsessive relationships (look at Mee’s 3 points ) : PLEASE please please , GET A LIFE ! I dare , plead , beg you to !

Okay so whithout making any more IBness flow out and bore you , Here’s my list of 14 Reasons why Valentine’s Day is LAME :

14. It tries to make the single people feel sad , hence taking away the very basic right to be yourself and happy about it , it creates a stereotype for happiness : You have someone to be with on Valentine’s Day = You are happy ! to which all I want to say is EXCUSE ME ? Here’s the no. of the mental hospital : Go see a Psychiatrist !!

I am single and I CAN BE happy on Valentine’s day ! AND you know what I AM !

13. It’s a stressor even for people in love (Supposedly or Truly- in love that is ;) ) ! What should I Buy ? How do I find a new way to say “I love you” ??

Blah Blah Blah !! (No offence to the commited but being Single rocks! – I think :P )

12. Valentine’s Day as we all know stands for “Saint Valentine’s Day” , well , What was it that Saint Valentine did that the so called “day of love “ is named after him ? Well That is UNKOWN ! This is what Wikipedia says :

“Numerous early Christian martyrs were named Valentine. The Valentines honored on February 14 are Valentine of Rome (Valentinus presb. m. Romae) and Valentine of Terni (Valentinus ep. Interamnensis m. Romae). Valentine of Rome was a priest in Rome who was martyred about AD 269 and was buried on the Via Flaminia. His relics are at the Church of Saint Praxed in Rome, and at Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church in Dublin, Ireland.

No romantic elements are present in the original early medieval biographies of either of these martyrs. By the time a Saint Valentine became linked to romance in the fourteenth century, distinctions between Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Terni were utterly lost.

So basically we are celebrating something we don’t really know much about and calling people our “Valentine(s)” WITHOUT knowing what that means ! The name of the “holiday” is almost BOGUS !

11. It’s a “HALLMARK HOLIDAY” which is to say that it exists only because of commercial reasons and does not have a tradition to commemorate which is religious or non-religious !

Basically the point of the “holiday” is that it makes a LOT of MONEY for greeting card , chocolate and other companies that make the things YOU buy for Valentine’s day ! I would call that a “ I’m going to give my hard-earned money to the companies selling merchandise that I don’t want or need because they make me believe that I SHALL be Unhappy/UNLOVED without this merchandise”

10. It isn’t even a celebration of love ! It is a celebration of the stupidity of the people who celebrate it despite the above 4 points !

9. It materializes LOVE the one thing that SHOULD be left free for all because EVERYONE without exception DESERVES TO BE LOVED !!

8. It isn’t good for most people’s mental health or Love relationships ! It makes you question yourself , your love , the ones you love and their love ! How is that healthy ? Especially in this case when you question it because of the lack or presence of a present and a card ?

7. It tries to UNIVERSALLY DEFINE love and GENERALISE it for EVERYONE ! Just like beauty and attraction love isn’t meant to be generalized or universally defined ! Its very beauty lies in its complexity and mystery ! It is NOT meant to be a mathematical equation after all !

6. It unfairly raises expectations : “If s/he loves me , I’ll be sent a present !“ “Today is the day of love therefore I WILL find my true love today! ” etc. etc. All of this is , excuse my language : A LOAD OF CRAP ! Its just another day , just another 14th day of a month ! Nothing is going to happen that cannot happen on any other day !

5. At the risk of being called a non-romantic : It just disrupts the regular flow of life and work !

4. It gives out labels : if you celebrate it then you are “loved , in love” etc. and if you don’t you are a “ V-Day hater , lonely depressed single person” etc etc. which just isn’t right !

3. It trivializes the very thing it claims to celebrate : LOVE ! Love is a constant thing if your are in love it isn’t for a day every-year ! Its for a long time , longer than 24 hrs at least ! It just like Mother’s Day or Father’s Day or Grandparents Day : I have them in my life and if I truly appreciate it then my daily actions will show it better than any gift or card that I might give once a year !

2. It defines a time for expressing , appreciating , acknowledging , feeling LOVE ! things that we should be doing everyday ! at the same time it also gives people an excuse to ignore love on other days ! Which is just : Stupid , Lame , Dumb …. Etc etc.

1. It makes your love lose its individuality ! After all YOUR love isn’t like anyone else’s love just like you its UNIQUE and this uniqueness should be celebrated ! So Why celebrate it the same day and in the same way as a few million other people?

Celebrate your love in your own way ! That will mean SOO much more !

That was my list !

Now because I LOVE reason number 1 , Here is how to use it :

· Pick your own personal “Day of Love” ( I refuse to call it Valentine’s day) , in a month , season that you like , go ahead ! Pick a number or day you like or a date that is special to YOU and YOUR LOVED ONE !

· Do something that is special to you two ! Don’t let the world define how you love and express your love !

· If you give cards and presents let them be personalized or hand-made instead of store bought ! Instead of Red Roses use birthflowers , the other person’s favourite fowers , make a card and write your heart out in it IN YOUR OWN WORDS !

· Basically just do what you LOVE with the one you love after all its all to Celebrate love a little more than every other day that you celebrate it by living it

                                Happy Lame Day

So there, I said it, Valentines = Lame, and by this equation Valentines Day is Lame day. This Blog is dedicated to all the singles out there ( MAKE SOME NOISE ) and also to some of my dearest friends who have given in to the lameness of  making a commitment .

Let me give you a 3 point description of why relationships are lame.

1. Where’s my Freedom ???

Only those who really appreciate freedom value it like I do. Sadly relationships make you lose most of your freedom. Your honey bunny will want to know everything, and you will have to answer. Yes, yes you will have to answer, soo all you committed people out there are missing out something we single people are high on. We are not answerable to anyone, Mind you no one (exception being parents who I don’t mind answering to , they are the reason im writing in the first place). We are not calling up anyone to tell them where we are going ,or tell them what we are doing when we say we can’t talk. We don’t have to give details of the people we are involved with or why we have a certain group of non-tolerable friends. I’ll say it again. WE ARE NOT ANSWERABLE TO ANYONE.

2. Did I just give up my free time and creativity for a boyfriend ??

C’mon !! How much time do we get for ourselves anyway?? Those who are hardworking would know the worth of self time, and trust me you lose it all when you get yourself a boyfriend. And please who will leave Vogue, Vuitton and Versace for lousy guys ???

Labels or Love is and overrated question because the answer is easy. ;)

3. Bye - Bye Individuality

I’m sorry to say this but all you people in love ( at least those who are 17 ) have lost yourselves. To find the ultimate happiness in your relationship you have sacrificed your individuality. If it is not so you are confused if its meant to be at all???

Don’t believe me ……. When was the last time any of you had a conversation which did not involve your so called girl/boyfriend. Doesn’t it always start or end there. Trust me I’ve been listening, and it does.( for those few who do not think so, maybe its not true ….. but this is because you really have found a partner who gives you as much freedom as you give give him/her and so is probably not around you 24/7 through all modes of communication literally possible). As according to my observation all couples start seeing themselves as a single personality, they don’t do things without each other, they don’t plan things without knowing the other’s plan, moreover they might just be planning to go to the same place for graduation ….are you seriously restricting yourself because of that ????One question please ………. WHAT FOR ???? a happily married life ?????

As reference to those who have planned on a house, and their kids name and their dog’s house………please!!!!give me a break.

So as I told someone this might not apply to all (fine not committed dude, I give you this one)……but to those of whom it does, people get over this phase …..because its Lame .

Because we singles love ourselves too much to commit so soon and give up on all that free privilege of flirting with anyone and everyone, today while the whole world does cheesy things for their loved ones I can live with the great satisfaction of the fact that if tomorrow I want to leave on that much awaited road trip all alone , I don’t have to think about someone or miss him throughout the journey. Take your time Mr right, because I’m not waiting right now ( or ever) :D.

Just rightfully want to add what Ayn Rand so perfectly said – In order to be able to say to say I LOVE YOU to someone , you need to be able to say the I first.

Loving my free spirit :D :D

Beloved blog,
EXAMS BRING OUT THE CREATIVE BEST IN ME ;-)

Besides the( longer than Rapunzel’s hair) journal ,ledger and tb’s we have to make , I have come to realise Thaaat , over the years when I sat staring at my textbooks… exam-time has really been the days when I’ve thought of THE coolest plans , The sweetest surprises, The silliest pranks , AND of all the super duper exciting fun that lies ahead ,post the overrated 3 weeks that are going to follow…..this year has been no different .
The needle of my study compass points towards the opposite direction as my mind breaks records of all the randomness that has ever cropped up inside it .
That’s precisely why I’m here while I should be concentrating on straight lines and the points that lie here and there around them .but what the hell? Every sentence with a ‘should’ in it spells rubbish for the free spirited !
Instead my mind is processing some other thousand things ….

But , when I take a moment from this interruption and look back at my textbook ….
I actually feel excited to study . uhm weird I know but that’s how it is

.I think the momentary happiness that comes after (i dont like to refer to is as this but .. whatever )- day dreaming makes me wanna finish off with the exams ASAP , and finish off with them well .

I’m sure I’m not the only one who experiences this ,
it’s a common case of coolness :p
Hoping everyone gets to celebrate a happy ending to the exams .

ciao

1.     HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

2.     Congratulations New Student Council !!!!Hope you can stop us from creating chaos in last year of school (and no im not declaring war.….. or maybe I am :p).

3.     Could any of my few, numbered and very precious readers( those who are reading because I forced them to, by attacking their walls or calling to tell that I finally have a new post, can also count themselves in and my sincere apologies for inflicting torture upon you)please, please tell Vamika to write for this blog once in a while. J Vam , honey , a kind reminder the blog has your name in it. Anyone who tells her so when im around gets a toffee.

4.     HAPPY BIRTHDAY Shagun.

5.     Finally Happy Republic Day!!!!!!!

Because I feel so patriotic …. I would like to dedicate my next post to India. I would like to ask for contributions from all those who are reading ,please forward this to anyone who might be remotely interested in writing and tell them to pass it on to me ( either through you or on their own ). The day I feel I have enough inputs I will post them with your name on it J J J Not a very good deal but what the hell????

Those who give me the best pieces get a chocolate. Does that make it any better ? ( I do not mean to portray the “Bribe” mentality of the people J) I am trying not to think about the embarrassment I will go through when I get no pieces.

Pleading you not to be a cause of it and write. Thank you and Jai Hind.
